A Day of Kindness and Connection at St. Luke’s
Today was a day to remember—a tapestry of kindness, curiosity, and heartfelt connection woven into the golden hues of autumn. The drive to St. Luke’s Catholic Elementary School was filled with quiet anticipation as I prepared to share a message close to my heart.
Upon arrival, I was warmly welcomed by Mr. Gibson, the school principal, whose graciousness set the tone for the day. He kindly escorted us to the gymnasium, where Mr. Cini, the school librarian and Special Education Resource Teacher, offered thoughtful support in setting up the technology for my presentation. With everything smoothly arranged, the space felt calm, professional, and ready to receive the students.
At 9 a.m. sharp, students from grade one classes began to fill the gymnasium in sequence up to grade eight—approximately 300 students. Their attentiveness and enthusiasm were truly moving. As I spoke about kindness and inclusion, I could feel their engagement—each face reflecting curiosity, openness, and a readiness to learn. The Q&A session that followed was lively and insightful, filled with thoughtful questions of interest.
At the close of the presentation, I was proud to donate a copy of my debut authored book to the school library. Mr. Gibson received it with heartfelt appreciation, and I was deeply touched by the warm reception it received—especially the kind interest shown by Mr. Cini too.
Afterward, several staff members approached me to share kind words and reflections. Among them were Mr. Gibson, Vice-Principal Ms. Sasso, Ms. Karaim, Ms. Cranstone, and Sophia—an endearing Educational Resource Worker who had met me during a presentation at another school years ago. Their expressions of gratitude were genuine and deeply affirming.
As I walked down the hall toward the office, I was again met with appreciation from Ms. Alonso and Ms. Ceni. While waiting for the completed Exit Tickets from the many classrooms, I had the joy of meeting even more students and teachers—each offering a smile, a greeting, or a kind word. Their warmth lingered long after I left, a beautiful testament to the spirit of St. Luke’s.
Before I left, I made sure to thank Mr. Gibson for his gracious welcome and thoughtful leadership throughout the morning—it meant a great deal to me. His presence and support helped create an atmosphere of warmth, respect, and genuine connection—one that made my visit truly memorable.
